The Department of Science and Humanities at PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore South Campus is highly focused on imparting quality education to meet the global challenges of science and technology. The department plays a vital role in laying the strongest foundation so that the students are well equipped to stand up to higher education.
The department comprises of faculty members from various disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, language training (English and Kannada) and training in soft skills. The department also imparts knowledge on subjects like Environmental studies and Constitution of India and professional Ethics to undergraduate engineering Students which is a part of VTU curriculum.
The Department consists of highly experienced, talented and dedicated faculty members of whom many are doctorates and few are pursuing their Ph.D from various reputed universities including IISc.
As added gems to the crown, the department of science and Humanities has two VTU recognized research centers for Physics and Chemistry where 7 students have registered for Ph.D programme.
The faculty members in the department have published more than 40 research papers in various national/international journals and over 100 papers in different national/international conferences. The focused research activity of the department involves the synthesis and characterization of conducting polymer nano composites for various applications such sensors, solar cells, electromagnetic Interference (EMI) shielding etc as well as research in environmental chemistry.
The department has the credence of attaining a success rate of 90% and above in each semester consistently.
